U.S. hockey GM dies unexpectedly at Colorado Springs home

Jim Johannson, the general manager of the U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team, has died just a couple weeks before the start of the Pyeongchang Games. He was 53. Johannson passed away in his sleep, according to USA Hockey. Executive director Pat Kelleher says the organization is “beyond shocked and profoundly saddened” by the loss of the Rochester, Minnesota native.

Whitworth pushes past Linfield with strong second half

The Gonzaga Bulldogs, in general, needed a bounce-back game after their loss Thursday night to Saint Mary’s. And Josh Perkins, in particular, needed one personally after a 1-for-9 shooting performance in that one. Saturday night in Santa Clara both accomplished their goals as the Zags cruised to an eased-off 75-60 win behind Perkins’ 17-point night.
