Exhibits on pop art, Spokane Symphony and World War II opening Sunday at the MAC

After a sold-out reopening in August, albeit at 25% capacity, the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture has a packed schedule of exhibitions to offer visitors this fall. The headliner brings work from pop art powerhouses to Spokane: "Pop Power From Warhol to Koons: Masterworks From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation."

Thin Air Community Radio hosts Semi-Annual Record Expo on Sunday

After cancelling the spring Record Expo because of the coronavirus pandemic, Thin Air Community Radio will host its Semi-Annual Record Expo in Kendall Yards on Sunday. The expo, in partnership with local J.J. Wandler of Gold Rush Auction Services, will feature vendors from across the state and the Northwest.

Talk about a summer transformation: The Priest Lake Museum has recently launched a brand new website giving patrons access to lake history year-round. On the website, visitors will find sneak peeks at exhibits currently housed in the museum. Viewers also can read outdoor exhibit panels and learn more about programs.

Spokane Arts announces 2020 Arts Award nominees, event performers

Spokane Arts announced Thursday the nominees for the 2020 Spokane Arts Awards, as well as the names of those performing during the live virtual event. The award ceremony, planned for Sept. 26, will be livestreamed from Lucky You Lounge and feature a variety of performances and the presentation of the awards.

Arts Wrap: EWU Theatre announces virtual fall production

After the coronavirus led the EWU Theatre department to cancel its winter production of "Silent Sky" after the first weekend, and the spring production entirely, the students and staff in the department regrouped and are planning on producing a virtual piece in the fall.

Those interested have until Oct. 3 to purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win the She Shed, which Ziggy's Home Improvement donated to the ISAAC Foundation and Project id.

KYRS Thin Air Community Radio, the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, the Regional Theatre of the Palouse, the Salish School of Spokane, the Spokane Valley Heritage Museum and Spokane Faith and Values were among the 108 cultural organizations in the state that received funding through Humanities Washington.

Little Spokane River Artist Studio Tour goes virtual

The Little Spokane River Artist Studio Tour, now in its 13th year, will be a virtual event next month due to COVID-19, co-founder Gina Freuen announced Wednesday. The show opens Sept. 26 at 8 a.m. at littlespokanestudios.com, with more than three dozen regional artists participating.

Northwest BachFest launches ‘Postcards From Spokane’

Northwest BachFest was prepared even before the coronavirus shuttered live performances. In July of last year, cellist Zuill Bailey, BachFest's artistic director, had an idea for a project that would give the public even more BachFest in between its regularly scheduled concerts.
