A GRIP ON SPORTS • How does one know the difference between the usual Monday in March, as today represents, from the average one in, say, December? Besides the lack of snow on the ground, we mean. And the crocuses peaking their heads above the dirt? Why, it’s simple. Lose a basketball game today and your season is over. That isn’t the case in December.

A GRIP ON SPORTS • Friday’s parking space has a sign on it. Reserved for the weekend. It’s where we, usually, park our thoughts about what’s available on the TV from here to Monday, which is something less than an eternity. Except on the NCAA tourney’s first weekend. It does seem like an eternity – especially the final minute of a close game – and we do more today than just look forward.

A GRIP ON SPORTS • We were tempted, for about 27 seconds, to ignore college basketball completely today. It seems it’s all we’ve blathered about over the past couple weeks. And, certainly, all we will lament upon over the next few. Why not take a day off? Throw out thoughts on the Seahawks, college baseball, whacking balls around at the golf range. Lucky for everyone, we couldn’t do it.
