Simpson Neighbor Says He Didn’t See Bronco In Driveway

New York Times

A neighbor of O.J. Simpson testified Friday that he did not see a white Ford Bronco parked outside Simpson’s home when prosecutors say Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald L. Goldman were killed.

His testimony was another contradiction of Simpson’s account to the police, and extended to nearly an hour the length of time for which the car’s whereabouts are unknown.

Accused of killing his former wife and her friend around 10:15 p.m. last June 12, then returning from the crime scene in the Bronco, Simpson has insisted that the car sat unused outside his house after 8 or 9 o’clock. A maid for Simpson’s neighbors has corroborated that account.

But Friday, Charles Cale, the latest in the case’s seemingly innumerable supply of dogwalkers, testified that when he walked his dog down North Rockingham Avenue from 9:30 to 9:45 that night, he saw no Bronco in front of Simpson’s house.

“Are you certain the Bronco was not parked near the gate at Rockingham that Sunday evening?” Deputy District Attorney Christopher A. Darden asked Cale.

“Very certain,” replied Cale, who said he came within 60 yards of Simpson’s house.

Rosa Lopez, the maid, has said she saw the car shortly after 10 o’clock, but her videotaped testimony is filled with contradictions.
