Perry Defends Aid For Russia

Compiled From Wire Services

American efforts to help convert Russian defense industries to civilian enterprises should not be hindered by disagreements over Russia’s planned sale of nuclear reactors to Iran, Defense Secretary William Perry said Sunday.

“We cannot put programs which are very, very important to us as hostage every time we have a disagreement with Russia,” Perry said in an interview on the eve of talks with Russian defense and other government officials.
