Gary Douvia Recognized As Volunteer Of The Year

Gary Douvia, a board member of the Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation, was named the state’s Resource Development Volunteer of the Year by the National Council for Resource Development at a conference in Portland.

He received recognition for his leadership in fund-raising and his negotiating efforts that led to the construction of the Industrial Training Center and purchase and remodeling of the new Community Colleges of Spokane’s Colville Center.

Alexander and Ashley Wolfe, both students at Sagle (Idaho) Elementary, are winners in the ages 5-8 category in the International Aviation Art Contest. The theme of the contest was “My Own Flying Machine.” They received certificates of award.

Tom Vail, a Pioneer Mutual Life Insurance Company agent in Spokane, was recently named one of the company’s top life and annuity sales leaders in the country. He qualifies for membership in the Core Group, top producers from across the country.

Patricia Williams was recently awarded the Myra Bradwell Award for her consistent support of women in law and politics and for her own presence as a role model for women lawyers in the state.

She is a 1975 graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law and has been a principal with the firm of Winston & Cashatt since 1981.

Barbara (Allen) Linn, Spokane, has been inducted into the Golden Grad Society at Dickinson (N.D.) State University.

William Wiley, a member of the Washington State University Board of Regents, has been elected president-elect of Sigma Xi, the prestigious national science research honor society.

He takes office July 1 and will assume the presidency in July 1996.

He is senior vice president for science and technology policy for the Battelle Memorial Institute, and former director of Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratories in Richland, where he lives.

He has been a member of Sigma Xi since 1959. Membership is by invitation only.

Eudona Harvey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Harvey, Rathdrum, has been chosen for the 1995 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She is a senior special education major at Greenville College, Ill.
