Show Of Support

ILLUSTRATION: Color Photo

MEMO: This photo ran as a black & white in The Handle of the Idaho edition on page B3 with this caption: Show of support. Rally backs targeted students. Students lead a march Tuesday from the Gonzaga Law School two blocks to the steps of the Crosby Student Center for a campus rally in support of four minority law students who received hate mail over the weekend. The rally drew about 900 people to hear speakers condemn the letters. “Only you can stop this,” said Uri Clinton, one of the four first-year students who received the letter. “The next time this happens, ask yourself, ‘Did I do everything I could to stop this?’” Speakers wore yellow ribbons in a show of unity and urged those attending to take personal responsibility for promoting tolerance.
