A woman walked into a hospital and fatally shot her 90-year-old mother in the head Wednesday, then killed herself.
The shooting occurred just before noon in a fourth-floor room at Boulder Community Hospital. The 59-year-old woman walked into the private room where her mother was staying and closed the door. Employees then heard gunshots, said hospital spokeswoman Beverly Shaw.
The coroner’s office identified the mother as Florence G. Shockey and the daughter as Kathryn Ramsay, of Longmont.
The mother was taken from the Golden West Manor nursing home, where she had lived for the past two years, to the hospital Tuesday night after complaining that she felt unwell, said John Torres, the nursing home’s executive director.
Authorities said they knew of no motive for the killings.
