Payne New Osu Coach

Eddie Payne, who led East Carolina to its winningest season in 20 years, has been hired as the men’s basketball coach at Oregon State.

Payne’s wife, Ann, reached at their home in Greenville, N.C., confirmed that her husband has accepted the job. The official announcement will come at a press conference at 10 a.m. today.

Oregon State has been looking for a replacement for Jim Anderson, who coached the Beavers for six seasons. Anderson was not offered a new contract.

Payne reportedly will have a package of between $200,000 and $250,000 at Oregon State.
