Girls’ Softball Team Struck By Lightning

Compiled From Wire Services

Several members of a girls’ softball team who sought shelter from a storm under a tree were struck by lightning Saturday, fire officials said.

About 10 people were injured and all were taken to hospitals, said firefighter Dan Powell.

He said some of the girls, who ranged in age from 12 to 14, were unconscious, some were disoriented and others were conscious and in “quite a bit of pain.”
