No Matter What Is Said, Often The Price Isn’t Right

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

No matter who you believe, there are no clear winners in the Dian Parkinson-Bob Barker sexual harassment suit.

The facts are that Parkinson has given up on her suit that the host of television’s “The Price is Right” forced her into a sexual relationship. Parkinson served as a “model” on the show.

Her reason? Health problems. Barker, she said in a statement, “has beaten me into submission. As a single woman, I was no match for the power and resources of Bob Barker and (Mark) Goodson Productions.”

Barker has said he will sue her unless she signs an affidavit that no harassment occurred.

But Parkinson has refused. “Mr. Barker says that he believed our relationship was consensual,” she said. “He may have felt that way, but I stand by the assertions in my lawsuit.”

Loose talk

Nick Nolte on why he was perfectly cast in the title role of the film “Jefferson in Paris” (in People magazine): “Calves were what men presented to women as a sexy thing in that day. Fortunately I was fine in the calf department.”

For boys of the ‘50s, there was Gina, Sophia and her

Claudia Cardinale turns 57 today.

Not to mention the final decay of modern art

Art often attracts polar-opposite reactions. That occurred Thursday at a Canberra, Australia, art show that featured a sculpture of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Andrew - in the nude and fat. Foes called it “outrageous and disrespectful.” The artist, Greg Taylor, said, “It’s about the irrelevance of the monarchy and the final decay of the British influence in Australia.”

And then, with a drum riff, he departed into the night

Branford Marsalisis out as band leader of the “Tonight” show. He handed over the baton to guitarist Kevin Eubanks on Tuesday night. “So you think he should stay on full time then?” host Jay Leno asked Marsalis. “Kev? Yeah, why not, man,” the jazz sax-player replied. “I’m enjoying the road. The gig is yours.”

When he said ‘I’ll be back,’ apparently he was just kidding

In a paternity lawsuit aimed at Arnold Schwarzenegger, Texas resident Debra Wrenn claims that her 12-year-old daughter and the actor share similar features, including a cowlick, turned-in big toes - and a large dimple on the base of their tailbones.

Whenever she talks back, Howard’s heart just Quivers

The quote: “Howard is the voice of things people think but don’t say. I’m more the moral conscience of the show.” The speaker: Radio personality Howard Stern’s on-air cohort Robin Quivers. The source: Quivers’ just-published autobiography “Quivers: A Life.”

That cup-of-coffee ploy always works with guys

When Melanie Griffith opened her front door the other day, a Miami police officer was there to greet her. Seems the actress had failed to report an April 2 car collision. Her reaction? The officer described her as “a very nice lady. She offered me a cup of coffee.”
