A man accused of fondling his 11-year-old stepdaughter in a prison visiting room while serving time for child molestation was sentenced Friday to 20 to 25 years in prison.
James E. Johnson, 39, had been sent to prison in 1989 for sexually assaulting another 11-year-girl. Instead of being released as scheduled Friday, Johnson received the new sentence.
Johnson’s wife, Nancy Jo, is charged with child abuse for allegedly bringing his stepdaughter to the prison so he could fondle her. Authorities said the girl was repeatedly assaulted between June 1994 and January.
Warden John Dahm said it is difficult to monitor visits between children and parents in a jammed visiting room.
