Bonita Bombino Priest River, Idaho

Memorial service for Bonita June (Hartman) Bombino, 69, will be at 11 a.m. today at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River.

Born in Oldtown, Idaho, Mrs. Bombino died Thursday in Spokane.

She had worked as a housekeeper and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Bombino; two sons, Robert of Priest River, Donald Bombino of Spokane; one brother, Robert Hartman of Simi Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren and one greatgrandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Patient Care, Hospice of Spokane or the Salvation Army.

Nina Bemis Spokane

Memorial service for Nina J. Bemis, 97, will be at 10 a.m. today at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bemis, who died Thursday, was born in Sheboygan Falls, Wis.

A homemaker, she had lived in Spokane for 67 years and was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a volunteer for Father Palmer Memorial Braille Service.

Her husband, John Bemis, died in 1955.

She is survived by one daughter Nancy Bemis of Seattle; one son, John Bemis of West Covina, Calif.; one sister Lois Hegstrom of Chicago, and two granddaughters.

Lucille Hood Spokane

Memorial service for Lucille Romberg Hood, 89, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Inurnment will preceded at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hood, a former longtime Spokane resident, died March 17, in Palm Desert, Calif.

She and her husband owned and managed the Dyle C. Hood Insurance Agency in Spokane and retired to California in 1986.

She graduated from the University of Nebraska and taught school in Nebraska for several years.

She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, P.E.O Sisterhood, a philanthropic and educational organization, and Order of the Eastern Star.

Her husband, Dyle Hood, died in 1983.

Survivors include one brother, Harold Romberg of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Robert Scott Spokane

Memorial service for Robert J. Scott, 64, is planned for 4 p.m. today at Peace Lutheran Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Scott, who died Thursday, was born in San Mateo, Calif., and was raised in Redwood City, Calif.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War.

He owned and operated Scott Acoustics for 32 years in Spokane, and retired in 1994.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lora Marie Scott; one son, Ronald Scott of Bakersfield, Calif.; three daughters, Cynthia Harrison, Theodora Downing and Jennifer Scott, all of Spokane; his mother, Marjorie Lambert of Spokane; his stepmother, Marjorie Scott of Big Bend, Calif.; two brothers, Donald Scott of Fort Worth, Texas, and Ken Scott of Spokane; one sister, Wendy Scott of Redding, Calif., and 16 grandchildren.

Vernice Nelson Spokane

Service for Vernice C. Nelson, 70, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson died Friday.

She was born in Wapato, Wash.

She moved to Spokane in 1950 from Yakima. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin Nelson; her mother, Maude Emory of Yakima; one son, Gary Adams; one daughter, Linda Johnson, both of Spokane; one sister, Vina Zschlmer of Yakima; one stepdaughter, Judy Hensley; three stepsons, Gerald, Douglas and Dale Nelson; five grandsons and two greatgrandchildren.

Megan Lynch Palo Alto, Calif.

Funeral Mass for Megan Kay Lynch, 38, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church.

Ms. Lynch, who was born in Fort Bragg, N.C., died April 11. She came to Spokane as an infant.

She graduated from Marycliff High School and Gonzaga University. She had been a marketing executive in Spokane and, since 1983, lived in Palo Alto.

Survivors include her husband, John DeMiguel; one son Michael DeMiguel, both of Palo Alto; her parents, Mike and Lorine Lynch of Spokane; three sisters, Kim Mallea of Seattle, Molly Preston of Spokane and Bridget Foucard of Paris; one brother, Patrick Lynch of Spokane; and her grandfather, Louis Hoerner of Spokane.

Marion Keller Spokane

Vigil service for Marion Keller, 71, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Keller, who died Wednesday, was born in Dodge, N.D.

She had lived in Spokane for 50 years and was a sales clerk for The Crescent and Frederick and Nelson, for 25 years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Altar Society.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alfon “Al” Keller; four sons, Gary and Robert Keller, both of Spokane; Dennis Keller of Austin, Texas, and Raymond Keller of Tacoma; two daughters, Bonnie Mackin and Kathy Alderson, both of Houston, Texas; her mother, Catherine Gleich of Dickinson, N.D.; one brother, Leo Gleich of Spokane; two halfbrothers, Peter Kuntz and John Senger, both of Spokane; two sisters, Florence Zarr of Dodge, and Anne Duttenhafer of Dickinson, and 14 grandchildren.

Joseph Platter Spokane

Service for Joseph N. Platter, 77, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery. Burial will follow. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Bassano, Alberta, Mr. Platter died Tuesday, in Arizona, where he spent the winter months.

Had lived in Newman Lake, Wash., from 1920 until 1933 and graduated from Almira High School in 1935. He attended Washington State University and served in the Army in the 82nd Airborne.

In 1945 he was discharged from the military and moved to Kellogg to work for Bunker Hill Mining Co., as a chemical engineer.

In 1976 he moved to Arizona and went to work for Hecla Mining for 6 years. He retired in 1982 and worked as a consultant for Union Oil Co., until 1994.

He is survived by his wife Faye Whitcomb Platter of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; one son, Michael Platter of Spokane; one brother, John Platter of Spokane; one sister, Nell Wendler of Tempe, Ariz.; one granddaughter; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

His first wife, Elizabeth Platter, died in 1987.

Helen Ferguson Spokane

Memorial service for Helen A. Ferguson, 91, is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ferguson, who was born in Colfax, Wash., died April 9.

She graduated from the University of Washington.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Spokane for 55 years. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.

Her husband, John Ferguson, died in 1992. She is survived by one daughter, Joan Nielsen of Walla Walla; three grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Mervin Amunrud Spokane

Memorial service for Mervin A. Amunrud, 80, is planned for 7 p.m. today at Kingdom Hall, 2824 N. Lee. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Bagley, Minn., Mr. Amunrud died Monday.

He was a car man for Western Fruit Express for 27 years and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen of America.

He had lived in Spokane for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mildred Amunrud of Spokane; one daughter, Tamara Babcock of Redmond, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Mary Kay Gauf of Bellingham, Wash.; one stepson, Dennis Knapp of Gig Harbor, Wash.; two sisters, Nellie Kinn of White Center, Wash., and Gladys Bergeron of Minneapolis; three brothers, Leo and Kenneth Amunrud, both of Spokane, and Rueben Amunrud of Hines, Ore.; two grandchildren; and 12 stepgrandchildren.

George Hinkemeyer Kellogg

Memorial service for retired teacher George W. Hinkemeyer is set for 1 p.m. today at United Church of Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hinkemeyer, 61, died Thursday at Shoshone Medical Center.

He was born in St. Cloud, Minn. and graduated from Cass Lake High School. He attended Bemidji State University.

In 1959 he moved to Kellogg and was an Industrial Arts teacher for 25 years for the Kellogg School District. He retired in 1984.

He was a member of the Kellogg Elks Club and Ham Radio Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jean at home; two sons, John Hinkemeyer of Spokane and Stephen Hinkemeyer of Craig, Colo.; one daughter, Lori Mitchell of Coeur d’Alene; four brothers, Harry, Lewis, Ernest and Elmer Hinkemeyer; seven sisters, Theresa, Elizabeth, Olga, Edna, Marion, Lorraine and his twin sister Georgina; and four grandchildren.
