Arkansas’ Thurman Passes Senior Year To Try Nba Draft

Compiled From Wire Services

Scotty Thurman said he would join teammate Corliss Williamson in bypassing his senior season at Arkansas.

Thurman and Williamson, both forwards, led the Razorbacks to the NCAA championship in 1994 and to the championship game this year.

Under NCAA rules, Thurman has the option to enter the draft but also retain his college eligibility if he doesn’t sign with an agent or the team that drafted him.

Thurman, 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, is a three-time AllSoutheastern Conference player.

He averaged 15.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game this season.

Southern Illinois basketball star Chris Carr also announced he will bypass his senior year and make himself available for the draft.

Carr was the Missouri Valley Conference’s 1995 player of the year and the conference’s tournament MVP.

Carr, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound forward from Pilot Knob, Mo., averaged more than 22 points and seven rebounds the past season.

The third collegian to announce was forward Rodrick Rhodes, who will give up his final year at Kentucky.

Rhodes will attend a pre-draft workout camp offered by the NBA in early June in Chicago.
