Motorcycle Chase Ends With Arrest

From Staff And Wire Reports

A motorcyclist riding on the shoulder of Interstate 90 was arrested late Monday after he passed a state trooper and then led the officer on a chase.

Kenneth G. Bee, 21, was arrested at 10:18 p.m. on Broadway, just inside the city limits, on charges of eluding police and possession of methamphetamine, said Sgt. Chris Powell of the Washington State Patrol.

Trooper Mike Shaw was westbound on I-90 near the Argonne exit at 10:15 p.m. when he spotted the motorcyclist driving on the shoulder behind him, Powell said.

Shaw turned on his lights to stop the motorcycle, but the rider raced past him and exited at Broadway, Powell said.

The motorcycle rider drove at speeds of more than 100 mph west into the city until he finally locked up his rear brake, Powell said.

The rider was thrown from the motorcycle, which rolled another 100 feet.

The rider, who suffered a minor ankle injury, tried to run, but Shaw caught up and arrested him after a brief struggle.
