Top Prep To Kentucky

Ron Mercer, the Naismith Award winner as the nation’s top prep basketball player, will sign with Kentucky, the Nashville (Tenn.) Banner reported.

Kentucky and Tennessee were the finalists after Mercer was recruited by Arkansas, Vanderbilt and Miami among other schools.

Mercer left Goodpasture High in Nashville to spend his senior year at Oak Hill in Virginia where he averaged 26.3 points in helping the academy to a 31-3 record. He also averaged 6.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.
