Montana State forward Nico Harrison has received an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award, presented by Black Issues In Higher Education magazine.

Harrison, who grew up in Spokane but moved to Portland before high school, was one of 10 NCAA Division I basketball players to earn the award. It is presented to minority student-athletes on the basis of academic and athletic achievement.

Harrison averaged 14.5 points amd 4.5 rebounds a game this season. He led the team with 1.8 steals a game.

A biomedical sciences and premedicine major, Harrison has maintained a 3.598 grade point average.

He has been an All-Big Sky selection for two years, and was an Academic All-America Region VII choice this year.
