Joe Gibbs Racer On Pole

Nursing a broken shoulder, Bobby Labonte drove to a lap of 93.308 mph and gave the Joe Gibbs Racing team its breakthrough NASCAR Winston Cup Series pole in qualifying for the Hanes 500.

The pole is the second for Labonte, 30. It’s the first pole for the Chevrolet team owned by Gibbs, the former Washington Redskins coach, in 97 races dating to 1992.
