Long-Hitting Davies Leads

Laura Davies reached two par-5s in two and a par-4 in one shot, highlighting a 5-under-par 67 that was worth a share of the first-round lead with Kristi Albers and Kelly Robbins in the rain-delayed LPGA Chick-fil-A Charity Championship in Strockbridge, Ga.

A thunderstorm delayed the start by 2 hours, and 21 players unable to complete their rounds faced early-morning play before the start of the second round.

Charles Coody and Dale Douglass combined for a 9-under-par 63 to take the opening-round lead in the $1,105,000 Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf at La Quinta, Calif.

The team of Lee Trevino and Dave Hill tied Chi Chi Rodriguez and Jim Dent at 64 over the 6,843 yard Stadium Course at PGA West.
