Spokane Robber Gets 24 Years

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane man has been sentenced to more than 24 years in prison for a string of robberies that ended when his colleague was shot in the eye and critically wounded.

Earlier this month, Ryan D. Bartlett, 25, confessed to five Spokane armed robberies during a three-week period in late 1993 and to attempting a sixth holdup.

Bartlett’s friend, convicted murderer Danny W. Clark, was shot in the head by a bartender during an attempted robbery of the Phase II Tavern, 4824 E. Sprague, on Dec. 4, 1993.

The two were scheduled to stand trial earlier this month, but Bartlett changed his mind. He pleaded guilty to five counts of first-degree robbery and one count of attempted first-degree robbery.

Deputy Prosecutor Jack Driscoll asked for an exceptional sentence for Bartlett’s crimes.
