Compiled From Wire Services

Lorenzo White, the leading rusher last season for the Houston Oilers, signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Browns.

White, 29, spent seven years with the Oilers. He led the team last season with 191 carries for 757 yards and three touchdowns.

Filling a need that wasn’t met in the NFL draft last weekend, the Carolina Panthers signed former Buffalo receiver Don Beebe.

Sources said Beebe, an unrestricted free agent, signed a two-year contract worth about $1.5 million, with a signing bonus of just under $100,000.

Offensive tackle Trezelle Jenkins became the first of the 1995 first-round draft picks to sign when he agreed to terms with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jenkins signed a four-year contract, according to Chiefs general manager and president Carl Peterson. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Washington Redskins signed their seventh unrestricted free agent, Marc Logan, and dumped a pair of highpriced veterans, Ethan Horton and Leonard Marshall.

They signed Logan to a three-year, $1.5 million deal with a $100,000 signing bonus.

Rob Moore, obtained by Arizona last week in a trade with the New York Jets, was in town to meet his new teammates and do a little house-hunting.

The New York Jets have signed two players who were not selected in the draft: Wayne Chrebet, a Hofstra wide receiver who holds school records for touchdowns in a game (5), season (16) and career (31) and Mike Jerich, a 6-foot-6-inch, 300-pound left tackle from Stanford.

The Jets also signed Tom Garlick, a free-agent wide receiver from Fordham who was a member of the Eagles’ developmental squad last season.

Free agents Peter Tom Willis and Marc Spindler signed contracts with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Willis, a former Florida State quarterback, was a third-round draft pick of the Chicago Bears in 1990.

Spindler a defensive lineman, was also a third-round draft pick in 1990. He was an unrestricted free agent after playing five seasons with Detroit, starting 55 of 58 games.

Former Montana State offensive tackle, 6-6, 301-pound Kerry Pribnow agreed to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles for the league minimum $119,000.
