Haitians Recall Earlier Executions

Hundreds of marchers snaked through the killing field of an infamous prison on Wednesday to lay a wreath in memory of the countless victims of repression.

“Justice! Justice! Justice!” a group shouted before the wall of Fort Dimanche, where opponents of the 29-year Duvalier family dictatorship were executed.

The government on Tuesday declared April 26 a national holiday to honor the struggle against oppression.
