Logan Area Cops Building Remodel Starts Saturday

Gonzaga University students and Logan neighborhood residents will join together Saturday to kick off the remodeling of the building that will house a new police substation.

Donated by GU, the house at the southeast corner of Hamilton and DeSmet will be one of two COPS substations in the area.

The neighborhood steering committee has planned for the COPS site for a year and is relying on donated labor and materials to complete the remodeling.

The substation will be staffed by volunteers and used by both the Spokane Police Department and Gonzaga security.

Saturday’s function runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1030 N. Hamilton. For more information contact substation president Myrna O’Leary at 459-4114 (days) or 484-7272 (evenings).
