Duffy Bishop Playing At Fort Spokane

Joe Ehrbar Correspondent

Seattle’s flamboyant and compelling R&B singer Duffy Bishop is back in the Inland Northwest and entertains tonight and Saturday at the Fort Spokane Brewery.

Her blistering and feverish stage show has made Bishop one of the most sought-after performers in the Pacific Northwest.

Since embarking on a solo career a few years ago, Bishop has culled numerous awards, including the NAMA (Northwest Area Music Association) award for Entertainer of the Year.

Along with her four-piece band, the provocative singer wields a sound that, like a chameleon, frequently changes its colors. During performances, Bishop likes to explore the blues, rock, country and jazz genres.

In fact, Bishop’s dynamics as a performer, from voice inflections to stage presence, parallel that of Janis Joplin, a comparison frequently tagged on the singer. Ironically, Bishop played the role of the late Joplin in a Seattle play called “Janis” in 1991.

On both nights, Bishop plays at 9:30 p.m. and the cover is $7. Bring your ID.

The Fort Spokane Brewery predicts sell-outs for both nights, so arrive early.
