Gragg Living It Up

Compiled From Wire Services

Scott Gragg, the Montana offensive lineman drafted by the Giants, arrived in New York for the first time Thursday night. Mini-camp began Friday.

“We flew in, and the lights didn’t stop,” Gragg gawked. “It was pretty awesome.”

But that was only a prelude to what the 6-foot-8, 315-pounder hopes will come in September. “The first time I’ll ever see an NFL game (in person),” he said, “I’ll be wearing a uniform.”

The coaching staff considers Gragg a raw prospect, but one it can groom to replace one or more of the aging and expensive veterans on the offensive line.

His biggest adjustment figures to be run blocking after playing in Montana’s passoriented offense. Said Gragg: “I’m looking forward to playing some smashmouth football.”

The Philadelphia Eagles signed three rookie free agents to one-year contracts, including Kerry Pribnow, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound lineman from Montana State.

The Miami Dolphins announced the signing of Wisconsin running back Brent Moss, who went undrafted after his reputation was marred by involvement with drugs.

On the first day of mini-camp, the Denver Broncos suffered a scare - and it had nothing to do with football.

With rumors circulating that John Doe No. 2, one of the suspects in the Oklahoma City bombing, might have been spotted in the Denver area, a yellow rental truck similar to the one linked to the bombing was discovered in the Broncos’ parking lot.

Authorities were called, only to discover the vehicle had been rented to running back Aaron Craver, who signed a freeagent contract with the Broncos last month and worked out with the team.

Craig Erickson, who signed a $6 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts, was named starting quarterback.
