Group Attacks Man, Steals Low-Rider

From Staff Reports

A man was assaulted and his pickup was stolen Friday night on the North Side, police said.

The carjacking victim was driving near Nevada and Magnesium when a car behind him honked about 8:30 p.m., said Spokane Police Sgt. Jim Faddis.

The man pulled into an apartment complex about five blocks away at 10 E. Pine Ridge Court. The other car also stopped, and two or three men and two women got out.

The victim was assaulted and the group drove off in his pickup and their car, Faddis said. The man suffered only minor injuries.

Police refused to identify the victim.

No one had been arrested late Friday. The suspects include two or three black men, a black woman and a white woman.

The stolen pickup was described as a 1991 Toyota low-rider with pink and blue designs, including one of a paint can spilling paint, said Dick Cottam, a police spokesman.

The car the thieves drove was described as a Datsun two-door blue hatchback made from 1978 to 1981, according to Cottam.
