Pair Arrested After Kidnapping

A man and woman were arrested late Friday in Spokane on suspicion of kidnapping another man earlier in the day.

Ericka D. Clemons, 28, and Gary L. Carter, 24, both of 805 S. Thor, were arrested on charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree kidnapping, the Spokane Police Department said.

About 3 a.m., three men and a woman forced their way into 1204 W. Joseph, assaulted 22-year-old Jerry W. Clark and then took him at gunpoint to homes at 3609 E. Crown and 805 S. Thor, police said. About 7 a.m., Clark was able to escape and get help, police said.

Clemons and Carter were later identified as two of the suspects. Police served search warrants at 805 S. Thor Friday evening and arrested Carter. Clemons was arrested at the Public Safety Building.

Police wouldn’t reveal a possible motive for the kidnapping.Two other men are still wanted in the case, police said.
