10k Walk To Feed The Hungry Is Today

From Staff Reports

A 10-kilometer walk to raise money for the hungry starts at 1:30 p.m. today at Spokane’s Riverfront Park.

CROP Walk ‘95 is sponsored by the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries, Church World Service and the churches of greater Spokane.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. in Riverfront Park east of the Flour Mill.

Sponsor sheets will be available at registration. Walkers may find sponsors after the race or sponsor themselves by making a donation.

Canned and packaged food will be collected at registration.

The walk will follow the Centennial Trail.

Last year, more than 150 walkers raised $9,380. Three local groups, the Spokane Food Bank, Mid-City Concerns and the Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels received $2,345 from last year’s walk. The rest went to overseas relief and development work by Church World Service.
