Pair Charged In Gun Theft

Deputies arrested two California residents Sunday after they allegedly stole three guns from a store in St. Maries.

Brian R. Davis, 29, was charged with burglary and grand theft. Linda M. Lee, 49, was charged with aiding and abetting grand theft, said Benewah County Undersheriff Ed Westbrook.

Davis walked into the St. Joe Sport Stop at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday. He broke the glass in a gun case apparently while trying to pry the lock off, Westbrook said.

Davis then grabbed three pistols, walked out of the store and jumped in a car his girlfriend, Lee, was driving, Westbrook said.

After a clerk called the sheriff’s department, deputies encircled the area.

They spotted the car at about 6:15 p.m. and arrested the couple, Westbrook said.
