Area Military Persons Receive Commissions

The following military persons have been commissioned as second lieutenants:

Angela Stemple, Army Nurse Corps, is assigned in Washington, D.C. She is the daughter of Garry and Mary Stemple, Missoula. She is a 1986 graduate of Big Sky High School, Missoula, and a 1995 graduate of the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education in Pullman. She was commissioned by her sister, Capt. Trudy Leonard of Fort Benning, Ga.

James Patton, is assigned to Fort Lee, Va. He is the son of Richard Patton, Waldorf, Md., and Susan West, Coeur d’Alene. He is a 1991 graduate of Sandpoint High School and a 1995 graduate of West Point Military Academy.

Eta Sigma Phi, the national classics honorary society, has honored University of Idaho students Sara Gregory and Dan Jensen, both of Moscow, Idaho, with membership.

The University of Idaho chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, music honorary for women, has honored the following music students with membership:

Moscow: Laura Crossler, Rochelle DeMonigny and Heather Provencio.

Troy: Rachel Seegmiller.

Konni Leichner, Hayden Lake, has been selected as the Kootenai Medical Center Foundation’s Festival of Trees director beginning in 1996.

Mike Schroder, of the Idaho Lottery, was awarded the 1995 National Excellence in Marketing Award by the National Public and Gaming Industry. He has been with the lottery since 1990 and was promoted to his current position of Director of Marketing in April 1994.

Soroptimist International of Coeur d’Alene has installed club officers for 1995-96: Janet McAllister, president; Linda Polley, president-elect; Pauline Whitley, vice president; Rachael Johnson, recording secretary; and JoAnn Jackson, corresponding secretary.

The following military people have been promoted to their present ranks:

Petty officer 3rd class David Maughan, son of Betty Maughan, Silverton, Idaho, is serving with the Navy in Lemoore, Calif.

Airman Christopher Cordry, son of Monica Ostaszewski, Hayden Lake, Idaho, is stationed with the Navy in Norfolk, Va.

Marine Lance Cpl. Isaac White, son of Julie Slankard, Coeur d’Alene, received a certificate of commendation. He is stationed with the Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He is a 1991 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School.
