Ex-Isu Player Faces Trial

Compiled From Wire Services

Former Idaho State defensive lineman Marcus Toliver, 22, has pleaded innocent to drug charges and faces a jury trial starting Sept. 6.

Toliver appeared Monday before District Judge William Woodland in Pocatello, Idaho, and pleaded innocent to two counts involving methamphetamine. The charges were filed after a combined city of Pocatello and Idaho Bureau of Narcotics investigation.

Toliver posted $20,000 bond and was released pending his September court appearance.

Randy Moss, 18, West Virginia’s top high school football player and a Parade magazine All-American wide receiver last season, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery stemming from a racial fight at school, then announced he will play at Florida State.

Moss was sentenced to 30 days in the South Central Regional Jail in Charleston, W.Va., with three to be served beginning Tuesday night and the rest within 18 months.

Moss in February signed a letter of intent to play at Notre Dame, but the school rejected his application in June, saying it was four months late and poorly done. Moss then spoke only with Florida State.
