Michigan Investor Acquires Kayu TV

From Staff And Wire Reports

Northwest Broadcasting Inc., has acquired Spokane’s KAYU television station.

Bob Hamacher, general partner of Salmon River Communications Limited Partnership, said Tuesday the deal also includes the partnership’s television stations in Yakima and the Tri-Cities. KMVU television in Medford, Ore., of which Hamacher is the majority stockholder, was also included in the sale.

At closing, Hamacher will become the chief operating officer of Northwest Broadcasting.

KAYU, channel 28, is the Fox Network affiliate in Spokane. Hamacher said the sale will not result in staff changes, or changes that would be evident to the station’s viewing audience.

Northwest Broadcasting was formed earlier this year by Brian Brady who lives in a Detroit suburb. Hamacher said the company was formed to acquire the Salmon River holdings, and to make other television acquisitions.

“Three other sales are being negotiated now,” Hamacher said. “I think those will move pretty quickly.”

The Salmon River sale is subject to approval by the Federal Communications Commission. The approval process is expected to take 90 to 120 days.
