The press release asked: “Are you funky, hip, new wave, glam?” So, naturally, we thought of Fresh Sheet readers.

BreakThrough Look ‘95 Search, sponsored by the Bacardi rum people, is described as “a national effort to find one male and female whose personal appearance best epitomizes today’s fashion trends and styles.”

All contestants have to do is send a one- to three-minute video of themselves “struttin’ their stuff,” along with an essay of 25 words or less.

One reason to make a fool of yourself in such a fashion: for each entry, Bacardi will donate $5 to the DISHES (Determined Involved Supermodels Helping to End Suffering) Project for Pediatric AIDS.

Bonbon voyage

Cruises are always great getaways for lovers, but there’s a seafaring excursion coming up for people with a special passion: chocolate.

Chocolatier Magazine is hosting a seven-day Caribbean cruise aboard the Crown Princess, setting sail Nov. 4, devoted to cacao consumption. The itinerary includes chocolate tastings, chocolate cooking classes, chocolate carving demonstrations and a different dessert at dinner each evening.

Food flight

A portion of the proceeds from every Red Baron frozen pizza sold in Spokane from now through Aug. 11 will be donated to the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program.

And from Aug. 11 through Aug. 13, the company’s squadron of Stearman biplanes are scheduled to appear in the skies over the city.

Saturday, of course, is National Mustard Day, a time traditionally celebrated by banging on complete strangers’ car windows and demanding Dijon.
