Coordinator Named In Restoration Project

From Staff And Wire Reports

Geoff Harvey of the Idaho Division of Environment has been designated coordinator of the Coeur d’Alene Basin Restoration Project.

Harvey has worked on the project since it began in 1991. In his expanded role, he will report directly to division administrator Wallace Cory in Boise. He will remain based in the regional office in Coeur d’Alene.

“The project is of vital importance to a large region of the state,” Cory said. “It deserves and demands top-level attention, particularly at this time of transition from a pilot project to a long-term cleanup effort.”

The cooperative project involves the state, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Coeur d’Alene Tribe, local governments, business and environmental groups. Its purpose is to clean up pollution caused by mining, farming, logging and urban growth. , DataTimes
