Microsoft, Digital Expand Their Alliance
Microsoft Corp. and Digital Equipment Corp. said they will expand their partnership to develop and market software and computers based on Microsoft’s Windows NT operating system for corporate computer networks.
The companies said they will work together to encourage other computer companies to write computer programs for Digital Equipment computers that run corporate networks.
Microsoft also will give “substantial” funding to Digital Equipment’s customer support and computer installation businesses to use Microsoft products. The companies also will share technology and cooperate on technical development of computers and software.
