Dorothy Henry Colfax, Wash.

Service for Dorothy Henry, 88, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bruning Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery.

Mrs. Henry, who was born in Washburn, Wis., died Monday at Rolling Hills Care Center. She had been a Colfax resident for 59 years.

She was a member of the Athenaeum Club, the Order of Eastern Star, Philanthropic Education Organization, the United Methodist Church, Too Hoots Bridge Club, Bridge Life Masters and Alpha Chi Omega sorority at the University of Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1980.

Survivors include one son, Robert Henry of Kennewick; three daughters, Pat Norris of Greenville, N.C., Jane Trunkey of Oregon City, Ore., and Kay Upshaw of Walnut Creek, Calif.; one brother, Chuck Sowder of Hayden Lake, Idaho; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Whitman Hospital Foundation of Colfax.

Robert Keyser Tucson, Ariz.

Graveside memorial service for Robert E. Keyser, 73, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Keyser, who was born in Cashmere, Wash., died July 18 in Tucson.

He moved to Arizona last year after living in Deer Park for 10 years. He had been a major in the Air Force.

Mr. Keyser was preceded in death by his first wife, Laverne Keyser.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Keyser; three daughters, Sue Ann Frank of Kremmling, Colo., Bobbie Lou Street of Morrison, Colo., and Debbie Keyser of Denver; two sisters, Katherine Haugen of Elk and Rae Hudlow of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Walter White Spokane

No service will be held for Walter E. White, 79, at his request. Private burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge or arrangements.

Mr. White, who died Thursday, was born in San Antonio, Texas.

He had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He had lived in Spokane for 40 years and was a heavy equipment operator for the city of Spokane.

Mr. White’s wife, Ida Mae White, preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Jerry White of Miami and Larry White of Spokane; several brothers and sisters; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Paul Ruder Spokane

Service for Paul R, Ruder, 73, is set for 1 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Ruder, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Monday.

He had been a service manager for Chrysler dealerships for more than 50 years and worked at Dishman Dodge after retirement.

He was a member of Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his wife, A. Evelyn Ruder; two sons, Dick Ruder of Olympia and Steve Ruder of Tacoma; one daughter, Sally Taylor of Dayton, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to “He’s Alive” Television Broadcasting, in care of Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Marie Strang Spokane

No service will be held for Marie J. Strang, 86, at her request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Strang, a lifetime Spokane resident, died July 25.

She was a homemaker, and was a member of Eagles Auxiliary No. 2.

Her husband, Joe Strang, died in 1958.

She is survived by three brothers, Gene, Everett and Donald Nesbitt, all of Spokane.

James Halstead Spokane

Service for James C. Halstead, 41, is set for 4 p.m. Saturday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Halstead, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Monday.

He worked for the family business, Novelty Carriage, until he was 25. More recently, he worked for Northwest Illuminated Sign and had been president of the company for the past five years.

Mr. Halstead is survived by his wife of 19 years, Debbra Halstead, two sons, Jeremy and James, and one daughter, Chandra, all of Spokane; his parents, Harold and Ann Halstead of Spokane; two brothers, Chuck Halstead and Barney Halstead, both of Spokane; and one sister, Cindy Wittig of Spokane.

Christine Doyle Spokane

No service for Christine Chris Doyle, 64, will be held at her request. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Doyle, who was born in Atlantic City, N.J., died Sunday.

She graduated from North Central High School in 1948 and then worked as a secretary for Brownie Baking Co.

She and her husband purchased Distilled Water in 1965 and she retired from there in 1975. She had been a member of the Eagles Lodge 2.

Her husband, Ralph, died in 1989.

She is survived by two sons, Steve and Craig Doyle; one sister, Lillian Coleman of Spokane; and one grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Humane Society.

Nyal Grady Spokane

Memorial gathering for Nyal C. Grady, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Spokane Elks Lodge 228. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Grady, a 55-year resident of Spokane, died Sunday.

He was a graduate of Whitman College and had worked for New York Life Insurance.

He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Million Dollar Roundtable and the Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, who died in 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Irene Yesley, Santa Fe, N.M., and Pamela Forbes, Vancouver, British Columbia; and four grandchildren.

Bernice Avray Nine Mile Falls

Graveside service for Bernice E. Avray, 78, is set for 10 a.m. today at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Avray, who was born in Great Falls, Mont., died Saturday.

She had worked as an executive secretary at Washington Water Power for 35 years. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and the Washington Water Power Trailblazers.

She is survived by one brother, Robert Hillis of Walla Walla; one sister, Margaret Segraves; and one grandson.

Judith Tilson Spokane

Service for Judith Tilson, 54, is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at the Hartline United Methodist Church, Hartline, Wash. Burial will follow at Hartline Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tilson, who was born in Deer Park, died Tuesday.

She worked as the city clerk in Hartline before retiring in 1992. She moved to Spokane in 1993.

She had been a member of the Hartline United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Stanley, died in 1984.

She is survived by one son, David Tilson of Cusick, Wash.; one daughter, Karen Powers of Moses Lake; her mother, Virginia Bockemuehl of Spokane; two brothers, Jim and Jack Bockemuehl, both of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Gay Buswell Troy, Idaho

Memorial service for Gay ” Lynne” Buswell, 34, will be Friday at 4 p.m. at the Lutheran Church in Troy. Short’s Funeral Chapel, Moscow, Idaho, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Buswell, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday of cancer.

She married William Buswell in 1980, and they divorced in 1993.

She loved spending time with her children, sewing, cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed playing at the beach, singing and dancing, and traveling.

Survivors include her children, Rick and Julie, both of Deary, Idaho; her father and stepmother, Darrill and Juanita Brazington of Priest River, Idaho; her mother, Mary Torrence of Spokane; one brother, Mike Brazington, and one sister, Cindy Bogar, both of Troy; and extended family in Priest River and Spokane.

Dorothy Millay Spokane

Service for Dorothy J. Millay, 92, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Chewelah (Wash.) City Cemetery.

Mrs. Millay, who died Sunday, was born in Battle Creek, Mich.

She worked as a nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital for 28 years, and had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge since 1922.

Her husband, Rolland Millay, died in 1950.

She is survived by three children, Marjorie Rosin of Springfield, Ore., Marilyn Wareham of Spokane and Lee Millay of Ione, Wash.; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Carl Vanhoff Fairfield

Graveside service for Carl A. Vanhoff, 89, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Pines Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vanhoff, who was born in Uniontown, Wash., died Monday.

He had worked for Brown Trailer Manufacturing for 40 years, retiring in 1970.

His wife, Ethel, died in 1978.

He is survived by a son, Harold Vanhoff of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Wilma Jameson Mullan, Idaho

Cremation was held for Wilma Carolyn Jameson, 74, who died Friday. Shoshone Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jameson was born in Bishop,Calif., and moved to the area in 1970.

She was a beautician who had owned Roberta’s Beauty Shop in Wallace and also a shop in Mullan. She was an Army veteran.

Her husband, Jack Jameson, died in 1976. Survivors include one son, Gerald Strange; two daughters, Rebecca Clemons of Spokane and Kristine Smith of Boise; three brothers, Bernard Johnson of Nevada, Wilbur Johnson of Arizona and George Johnson of Fruitland, Idaho; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the AIDS Network in Spokane.

Ethel Kalb Sandpoint

Service for Ethel E. Kalb, 91, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel, Sandpoint.

Mrs. Kalb, who was born in Crawford, Neb., died Tuesday.

She grew up in Wyoming and moved to Sandpoint in 1918. She graduated from Sandpoint High School.

Mrs. Kalb was instrumental in starting the hot-lunch program at schools in Sandpoint and was well-known as “The Cinnamon Roll Lady.”She worked as a supervisor for the lunch program from 1952 until her retirement in 1966.

She enjoyed her family, knitting, cooking, picking huckleberries and traveling. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Sandpoint and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Kalb.

Her survivors include two sons, Ernest Kalb of Spokane and Bob Kalb of Sandpoint; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Annabelle Larson Spokane

Private burial for Annabelle M. Larson, 74, will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

A lifetime resident of Spokane, Mrs. Larson died last Thursday, on her 74th birthday.

She was a graduate of West Valley High School.

She worked at Galena Army Air Depot during World War II and as a kitchen helper at Edgecliff Sanitarium.

Mrs. Larson was a member of the Royal Neighbors, the Order of Eastern Star and the Order of Amaranth.

She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Hayden of Spokane.

Henrietta ‘Hank’ Dawson Ione, Wash.

Service for Henrietta E. “Hank” Dawson, 91, is set for 10 a.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Ione. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dawson, who was born in Titonka, Iowa, died Monday.

She had worked as a cook for the Ione School District for four years.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and had been on the Ione School Board.

Mrs. Dawson’s husband, Walter, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Kay Saxe, Ione; two sons, Bob Dawson of Ione and Dale Dawson of Northport, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
