Sportscaster Dies

Brian Smith, a popular television sportscaster in Ottawa and a former NHL player with the Los Angeles Kings, died a day after he was shot in the head by a man police say bore an unexplained grudge against the media.

Police said a 38-year-old man surrendered Wednesday at the main courthouse in Canada’s capital and was expected to be charged with the killing.
