Hang On, Star Trek Fans, The Doctor Is On Her Way

Joe Ehrbar Correspondent

Dr. Beverly Crusher (a.k.a. Gates McFadden) will be beaming down from the Star Ship Enterprise to make an appearance at the Star Trek Convention on Saturday.

McFadden plays the strong-willed, compassionate Dr. Crusher on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

The hugely successful TV series completed its run last spring so that the cast can now focus on making Star Trek movies.

Most recently, McFadden appeared in “Star Trek Generations,” the biggest money-making Star Trek movie at the box office to date.

McFadden will speak about her voyages aboard the Enterprise. And maybe, just maybe, she’ll discuss what lies ahead for “The Next Generation” crew.

Other guests scheduled to appear during the weekend include David Livingston, supervising producer/ director of three Star Trek series (“Voyager,” “Deep Space Nine” and “The Next Generation”); Dave Rossi, production associate of “Star Trek: Voyager”; and Lolita Fatjo, script coordinator of “Voyager” and “Deep Space Nine.”

Bring your wallet. As you probably already know, there’s tons of memorabilia and collectibles waiting to be bought at the “Horizon Marketplace.”

Of course, what would a Horizon Star Trek Convention be without a costume contest? On Sunday, come dressed as your favorite Star Trek alien (Borg, Klingons, Romulans, etc.) or Star Fleet officer.

The hours of the convention are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $35 for reserved seating, and are available at all G&B Select-A-Seat outlets.
