Indians Return To Seafirst With Some Fans’ Favorites

Two of the season’s most popular promotions are planned this weekend as the Spokane Indians return to town after nearly a week on the road.

The five-game Northwest League homestand, with the first two games against Yakima, begins at 7:05 tonight at Seafirst Stadium. This evening should be perfect for hungry fans, as hot dogs, Pepsi and ice cream sandwiches will cost just 50 cents.

Steve “Wild Thing” Wolfert will entertain the feasting crowd.

The Indians’ last 50-cent night drew more than 7,200 fans.

Saturday has been dubbed Seattle Mariners night and grand slam night. Fans will receive Ken Griffey Jr. trading cards as they enter the gates, then will spy the Mariner Moose once they’ve settled into their seats. One fan will win $100,000 if an Indians player hits a grand slam.

Yakima opened the NWL season in mid-June with four consecutive wins over Spokane. The teams haven’t met since.

The immediate goal for Spokane (18-28), which is in last place in the NWL’s Northern Division, is to catch and pass third-place Yakima (19-27).

The second-place Everett AquaSox (22-24) arrive in town Sunday for a three-game series.
