School Association Honors Inland Northwest Residents

The Northeast Washington Association of School Administrators recently recognized several Inland Northwest residents and civic groups for contributions made to public education.

Those honored were:

Ric Odegard, executive vice president of SeaFirst Bank, Charles “Chuck” Stocker, superintendent of East Valley School District; and Robert Dompier, member of West Valley School District’s facilities committee.

Kay Crist, Mica, volunteer for Freeman School District; Earl Davenport and Dee McMillan, volunteers for the Colville (Wash.) School District; Lon Hatfield, Colville School Board member; Saundra Carter, Springdale, Wash., and Gary and Dolores Crisp, Addy, Wash., volunteers with the Summit Valley School District.

Dollars for Scholars, Chewelah, Wash.; Roy Dube, Rosalia (Wash.) School District volunteer, LaCrosse Community Education Association and the Washtucna-Benge Lions Club.

Amy Aspenleiter, placed fourth in the vaulting event at the 1995 USA Gymnastics State Championships held in Issaquah, Wash., in May. She is a member of the Lilac City Gymnastics Center.

Steve McReynolds and Ken Toon, service advisers for McCollum Ford, won silver medals with the 1994 Ford Quality Care Medallion Awards Program.

Wayne Bronson, McCollum service manager, received the Silver Medallion Award for service managers. This Western regional award is based on quality car service, determined by customer satisfaction.

Eastern Washington University’s College of Business and Public Administration recently held its eighth annual awards dinner. Awards and recipients were:

Outstanding Student Leadership: Linda Clark and Stefanie Overbey.

Research Excellence: David Eagle.

Teaching Excellence: Nancy Birch, Gordon Chapman, Leo Simpson and William Kelley.

Distinguished Business Alumnus: Chris Mikkelsen.

Entrepreneur of the Year: Harold Gilkey and William Zuppe.

Bruce Ressa, owner of Manito Shoe Repair, won two international awards in the Silver Cup Contest sponsored by Shoe Service magazine.

He placed first in the Ladies Orthopedic category and won the Western Red Ribbon.

Ann Warrington was named International Committee’s Person of the Year by the National Association of Purchasing Management at the group’s annual conference in Anaheim, Calif. Warrington has been an active member of the Spokane chapter since 1972. She recently retired as purchasing supervisor and procurement administration supervisor at Hewlett-Packard Co.

Linda Tompkins was named vice chair for the Washington State Transportation Commission. She is an attorney with the law firm of Lukins and Annis in Spokane.

St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute recently received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. St. Luke’s is the only free-standing hospital in the region dedicated solely to medical rehabilitation for children and adults.
