Simplot Completes Largest Acquisition

J.R. Simplot Co. has accomplished its largest acquisition ever, which expands the $2 billion Idaho agribusiness by about 23 percent.

Simplot has bought several food businesses, with combined revenues of $450 million, from the Australian conglomerate Pacific Dunlop.

The purchase will bring Simplot even closer to the emerging Asian markets for frozen french fries and frozen vegetables, company President Steve Beebe said.
