Variety Show To Appear At Valley Fourth

The Continentals, a traveling Christian variety show, will perform at Valley Fourth Memorial Church, 2303 S. Bowdish Road, at 7 p.m. next Saturday.

“Celebrate! Before the Lord” will feature performances of contemporary Christian songs and a musical, “David: A Man After God’s Own Heart.”

A 35-member cast and crew of singers, musicians, actors and technicians comprise the Continentals, which tours around the globe in 10-week stints raising money to fight world hunger.

In its 27-year history, the Continentals has performed in 70 countries.

New pastor

Last Sunday, the Rev. Mark Van Bebber assumed his position as pastor of the Pasadena Park Church of the Nazarene, 8822 E. Upriver Drive.

Van Bebber, who was recently ordained an elder in the Church of the Nazarene, served for the past seven years in the Nazarene church in Prosser, Wash. Before that, he was associate pastor at the Cheney and Walla Walla Nazarene churches.

Van Bebber studied at the Northwest Bible College in Kirkland, Wash.

Family retreat

The St. Gregorios Orthodox Mission will present an all-day family retreat next Saturday at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 4515 N. Alberta.

Guest speaker for the 8 a.m.-to-8 p.m. event will be Bishop Thomas Mar Makarios, a native of India. Makarios serves as bishop of the Canadian and European diocese of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church. He is also one of two bishops to supervise the American diocese.

The retreat’s focus will be prayer, from the Old and New Testaments and as practiced over the centuries.

Mass will be said in both English and Aramaic.

Gospel music fest in Colville

Sunday is “Gospel Sunday” at the Colville Rendezvous Celebration in the Colville (Wash.) city park.

The fest, beginning with an 8 a.m. Mass, will feature spiritual services and musical performances.

Performing groups include the Bulla Family, a Northport, Wash., bluegrass band; Teddy Ray Jones; The One Accord; and Crystal Rose.
