Boat Sales Skyrocket

United States retail sales of boats and boating equipment totaled $14 billion in 1994, up 25 percent from 1993, says the National Marine Manufacturers Association.

The industry also noted a 15 percent increase in the number of new boats sold in 1994 to 563,200 units.

Since boat makers couldn’t meet demand last year, another season of double-digit sales is expected, the association reports.
