Suspect Held In Elevator Robberies
Missoula police have arrested a man suspected in at least two elevator robberies in Spokane last month.
Alexander Sandy Hovey, 33, was arrested July 24 in Missoula on suspicion of robbing a woman in an elevator.
The methods used in that robbery matched two elevator robberies in Spokane on July 20 and 21.
In all three, a short, dark-haired robber stole a woman’s purse at knifepoint in an elevator.
Hovey was taken into custody when several people in Missoula chased and caught him.
He had been driving a rented 1995 Plymouth van.
Inside the van, authorities found handcuffs, adult pornography, hair dyes, strapping tape, rope, binoculars and license plates stolen in Washington, Oregon and Montana.
A map was marked with various cities, including Spokane, and several maps of college campuses in the Northwest.
