Kallaher Leads South Squad To All-Star Win

Ray Kallaher was 2 for 2 with four RBIs as the South defeated the North 21-10 in the A.R.T. American Legion All-Star Game Sunday night at Al K. Jackson Field.

Kallaher, a junior who played for the Pullman Patriots during the regular season, was named player of the game in a slugfest which featured 32 hits.

East Valley Merchants right-hander Steven Pipkin earned the win for the South after pitching a scoreless fourth inning.

For the North, Aaron Hancock was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Idaho Legion

David Caron pitched a five-hitter through eight scoreless innings as the Trail, B.C., Eagles knocked the Prairie Cardinals into the Idaho Class AA State American Legion baseball tournament losers bracket with a 5-3 win in Lewiston.

Auto racing

Jeff Zimmerman of Spokane took over the lead on lap 16 and never looked back, winning the River City Auto Body 75 Northwest Modified Series feature race Saturday night at Stateline Speedway in Stateline, Idaho.

Dan Noble of Eltopia, Wash., finished second, leading a tightly grouped pack that included Moses Lake’s Stan Cafferty and Spokane’s John Bossio across the finish line.
