‘Doctor’ Facing New Sex Charges Registered Sex Offender Posed As Psychiatrist, Officials Say

A 46-year-old registered sex offender is accused of molesting a teenage boy Friday while posing as a psychiatrist, according to sheriff’s officials.

Larry Leombruno of Harrison, Idaho, was charged Monday with sexual battery of a minor.

The Harrison, Idaho, man was also arrested on a second charge of sexual battery late Monday afternoon after another teenage boy came forward and told authorities that Leombruno molested him last year.

Leombruno is a registered sex offender in Kootenai County, sheriff’s officials said. He has previous sex crime convictions in California, said Kootenai County Sheriff’s Detective John Laine.

On Friday, a 17-year-old boy told Kootenai County sheriff’s officials that he had been working at Leombruno’s Harrison home recently.

The youth told authorities that Leombruno - claiming to be a psychiatrist - also was treating him for a drug problem.

Leombruno picked up the youth on Friday and took the boy to his home on Caribou Ridge, Detective Laine told a judge Monday.

Leombruno gave the youth a nude, full-body massage, the boy told sheriff’s officials.

Pretending to be a medical professional, he told the teen he also needed a sperm count to determine whether the boy’s drug habit would prevent him from having children, according to court records. He then molested the teen.

Leombruno also hooked the teen up to what he called a “brain wave synthesizer” that required the youth to wear glasses over his eyes that prevented him from seeing.

Again he molested the youth, Laine told the judge. The youth realized what was happening when he took the so called brain synthesizer glasses off.

The teen “believed this person to be a doctor that was supposed to help him and apparently was a willing participant up to a particular point.”

Leombruno is not and never has been registered as a psychiatrist in Idaho, according to the state Board of Medicine. Authorities have not yet determined whether Leombruno is involved with any other medical or psychiatric practice.

While still in jail on the first charge, Leombruno was arrested on a second count of sexual battery Monday afternoon.

Detective Laine arrested the man after another 17-year-old boy came forward and told authorities that Leombruno had molested him last year. No other details regarding the alleged incident were available as of Monday evening.

Leombruno is being held at the Kootenai County Jail. Formal charges will be requested against him today.
