Fellow Spokane resident Royal Stumph also qualified with a 74.

Baseball

The Spokane Heat, an all-star team of 14-year-old boys living within a 200-mile radius of Spokane, defeated the Las Vegas Bulldogs 7-6 at the AAU Junior Olympics World Series in Coco Beach, Fla.

The win, combined with the Heat’s 8-4 victory over Bloomington, Minn., on Saturday, earned Spokane a berth in the winners’ bracket Wednesday.

Prairie of Post Falls beat Twin Falls 10-7 in a loser-out game of the Idaho American Legion playoffs and will meet Pocatello today for a chance at the championship game on Wednesday.
