Kay Stipe Receives Award From Girl Scout Council

Kay Stipe was recently awarded with the Thanks Badge by the Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council, the highest award given to volunteers.

Other awards presented at the council’s Adult Recognition Dinner included:

Appreciation Pin: Tammy Munroe and Laurel Woodworth in honor of dedication and devotion to service units.

Outstanding Leader Award: Tandie Dahnke, Terry Daniels, Corrine Mountjoy, Jan Pierce, Robin Waggoner, Donna Wasson, Paula Winkler and Mary Wolf.

Outstanding Volunteers: Pat Ewers, Joyce Hawkins, Wanda Krumland and Linda Langsett.

Angel in Green Award: Nancy Bolt, Danielle Burton-Williams, Barbara Coombs, Curt Fackler, Judy Ingraham, Sally Kramer, Cindy McMullen, Rob Newell, Marie Okamoto, Dorothy Spoerhase, Jan Betts and Homer Todd, all of Spokane; Stephanie Bell, Veradale; and Beverly Hawker, Otis Orchards. The award recognizes outstanding service in a variety of areas.

Shadows Award: Jean Chase, Alan Coalson, Les Graham, John Sine, Gina Theodore, Robert Waggoner and Mark Woodworth. The award is given to those who work behind the scenes to make it possible for others to volunteer in Girl Scouting.

Ten juniors from St. Charles Girl Scout Troop 315 earned the “I Live My Faith” religious award: Katie Coghlan, Becky Guhin, Kaycee Hardin, Joelle Hinton, Brianna Judd, Kristen Kirchner, Donna McIntyre, Shawna McMullin, Sarah Shives and Brooke Wendt.

R. Keith Campbell, Pullman, has received the Merck Pharmacist Award. He is associate dean at Washington State University, College of Pharmacy. The award recognizes professional and civic achievements of pharmacists.

Meagan Elliott-Marsh, daughter of Bob and Shirley Marsh, and Lane and Stacy Elliott, all of Spokane, participated in the 1995 Miss Teen of Washington Scholarship and Recognition Program in Seattle.

Soroptimist International recently presented four awards to Spokane-area individuals:

Bethanie Moeller, Ferris High School, the Youth Achievement Award.

Yelena Shablinskaya, Spokane Community College, the TAP Award for a woman returning to school.

Judith Gilmore, the Women Helping Women honoree. She is the Eastern Washington representative for Gov. Lowry.

Ruth Fish, a longtime member of the Spokane Club, the Woman of Distinction Award.

Thomas Sprague, an automotive service technology student at Spokane Community College, competed in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America’s 31st-annual National Leadership Conference and Skills USA Championships. His participation in the Kansas City, Mo. event was sponsored by General Motors Corp.

Marc Forni, Spokane, attended the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., a leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. He is a junior at Shadle Park High School.
