Spokane Wins Fourth Straight, 5-4

Mark Quinn hit his second home run in as many nights Thursday, a solo shot in the top of the 10th inning that lifted Spokane to a 5-4 victory over the Everett AquaSox for the Indians’ fourth straight Northwest League baseball triumph.

Quinn’s homer to left-center field off Everett reliever Kevin Gryboski held as Spokane’s Matt Saier struck out the side in the bottom of the 10th.

The first four AquaSox batters reached base off Spokane starter Justin Adam. Joe Pomierski’s double gave Everett a 2-0 lead, and it was 4-0 after an inning.

Adam settled down from there, keeping Everett scoreless the next three innings before yielding to Modesto Villarreal (5-2), who tossed five scoreless innings for the win. Pomierski’s secondinning single was Everett’s last hit.

Spokane scored four runs in the sixth, starting with a homer from Patrick Hallmark. Quinn then singled and William Roland reached on an error to chase Everett starter Todd Niemeir.

Reliever David Cooper was greeted with a three-run blast to left-center courtesy Randy Paulin.
