The Slice Kitty Might Just Be Names Pepe
We can’t always read cats’ minds. But there’s this one black and white feline in our neighborhood that makes us wonder. It seems to take a suspicious amount of pleasure in looking like a skunk and darting out from under cars just as you walk past.
Name that band: We mentioned that a new local alternative rock group featuring three women and one guy wanted help coming up with a name for the band. Well, here are a few of the printable suggestions that came in: Buzz Saw & The Sirens, Harry & the Who Deenies, Gary G and the G Spots, Floppy Disk and the Laptops, He and 3 Shes, Linoleum Highchair, Purple Fan, Eve’s Cufflinks, Ether Or, Involuntary Servitude, Guilt by Association, Nympho Tractor, Rock Salt, 3 Women and a Baby, Johnny Jones and Venus, and Cindy Leper.
Last we heard, the group was considering going with June Cleavage. But perhaps they’ll like one of the above better.
For the record: We liked “Babe” and recommend it.
Is it just us: Or do others think Ferris wheels, supposedly so tame and all, are terrifying? Another gone-but-not-forgotten nomination: Howard Street Cafe.
Tube alert: If you are one of the 16 people who get the Bravo channel, be advised that there’s a Woody Allen festival this afternoon and evening, including “Broadway Danny Rose.”
Surreal Moments From Saturdays Past Department: Last weekend, at the Scottish festival in Riverfront Park, there were a few puzzled looks when the La Leche League - a group dedicated to promoting breast-feeding - quietly marched through the proceedings with a banner, balloons and lots of kids in strollers.
Random notes: One reader was adamant that all ice cream trucks should be blown up. And another caller offered the opinion that, in Spokane, “It’s all about fashion.”
Warm-up question from Jeff Knight: Who has the dirtiest eyeglasses at your workplace?
Today’s Slice question: A picnic isn’t complete without what food?
